The New Gig - October 30, 2006
For those who couldn't see us last Saturday night in Worcester, we'll be playing a fetish night at the Lizard Lounge this Thursday, November 2nd!
Details on the gigs page
The Pink Bunny - October 30, 2006
I should explain a bit about those particular
photos.
So, Livesexact played this recent Halloween gig dressed as white bunnies.
During our cover song of Total Eclipse of the Heart, I was searching the audience for a muse.
Well... what a better muse for a white bunny than a pink bunny? I mean, duh, right?
I don't remember this dude's name, but he was awesome - he came on stage and sang with me, consoled James Addiction (who was my muse until Pink Bunny came along), and then hopped off stage.
Pink Bunny invited us to a party after the gig, but we never made it... oh, regrets...

Am I Obsessing? - March 12, 2006
I just found another blow-by-blow review of that same compilation. This reviewer is the polar opposite of the previous one I mentioned:
"Livesexact - Up to Get Down
Where the hell did this come from? Drum and bass, MC-like stylings, DJ manipulations, slap-rapping chicks - I must see these guys live! Refreshing, simple yet somehow rocketing to my "favorites of the compilation" list. A funky and fun break from the rest of the compilation sound that makes you want to shake your ass. They're freaky-freaky-freaks!"
That review was from
Marcus Pan
Damn, it feels good to be a gangsta. :)

An Old Review - March 4, 2006
On the night before the Oscar Awards, celebrating excellence in film art, I find this old review of a couple of songs we had on an Invisible Records compilation called "Notes From Thee Real Underground". I'd like to celebrate our own critical acclaim.
It's absolutely one of my most favorite reviews of all time, and I'm glad I found it again. I'd like to share it with you...
The first song was a Martin Atkins remix of "You Must Get Down" and the second was an exclusive that Freedom and I put together called "Nine if You're Lucky".
Here's what the reviewer had to say about Martin's mix of YMGD:
"Livesexact, "Up to Get Down": Irritating hip-hop. The male rapper is horrible and the female rapper isn't much better. The music utilizes every cliche pioneered by Cabaret Voltaire in the seventies and eighties (Dialogue samples! Vocal cutups! Bizarre synth squealings!), but without any of the skill that made Cabs enjoyable. I couldn't bring myself to listen to the whole song; it's the only cut on disc one that I didn't listen to all the way through. It was that horrible."
...and here's his review of Nine if You're Lucky:
"Livesexact, "Nine if You're Lucky": The best that can be said for this song is that it's nowhere near as bad as their previous offering, which is on disc one. In fact, it might have been almost tolerable if it weren't for the vocalists, who interrupt the extended synth passages with godawful cheerleading. (That's the only word I can find to describe the vocals on this cut. They're not rapping, and they sure as hell aren't singing. They sound like a couple of boneheaded, drunken cheerleaders.)"
Ha, I love it. :) I'd rather make music that gets a strong negative reaction that no reaction at all. I think it means we're onto something... Keep in mind there were over 50 tracks in this compilation - and we were this reviewer's pick for the absolute worst!
FWIW, the reviewer's name is Daniel (909) Lackey and here's a link to the specific page with the
review.
Thanks 909,

myspace is dead - February 24, 2006
Since Livesexact! finally has a
myspace page, I guess this is a sign that myspace is no longer cool... ?
We built it and you came - February 9, 2006
Thanks for the great response to all the music we posted!
Just so you know, you'll find even better quality downloads on the iTunes Music Store and similar such places.
And we still have CDs available at
CD Baby.
Cheers!

Here's a description of the evening, the November installment of the
Ominous Collective's Kabarett 16-bit:
The Ominous Collective invites you to a very special Kabarett 16-Bit. This month the creepy creatives bring you an exciting tribute to the worldly and mysterious British doctor, M. William Frederick Omens (after whom the collective is named, of course). Psychotic artisans
Optic Rose and electropunks
Livesexact will be on hand to sing the praises of his contributions to the 'dark mechanical sciences'. Pushcart Prize nominated poet
Edward J Carvalho may have a word or two to say about Omens' flavorful abuse of the English language. What Time Is It, Mr. Fox could very well sing a sultry song about his knees, or present him with yet another award for his bravery in the face of tapioca. And it's possible the good Doctor could make an appearance too--He's been known to stir up a little hell once in a while. But Scotland Yard hasn't been able to prove anything yet, so there's a good chance he'll be there. Will you?
With performances by
Empathy and Gee-rog of
New Remorse and The Breadweather Biologists, as well as philosophical musings by the late Steve Robot. Presided over by our in-house diva of decadence,
Jutta.
See you soon!

Ominous Collective - July 5, 2005
Haven't posted in a while, but here's the news:
Kabarett 16-bit was an awesome time - so much so that Livesexact officially joined the
Ominous Collective. Woo!
What does that mean?
It means we shall now set forth to formally assert our individuality amongst those who are different like us... uniting against the common enemy... defying the laws of tradition... er, and kicking ass en masse. Rawk!
Kabarett 16-Bit - May 31, 2005
I thought I'd mirror the gig info from the
OMINOUS COLLECTIVE:
June 4th, 2005 - Kabarett 16-Bit
7-9PM
For the June installment of the Kabarett 16-Bit, the Ominous Collective insist “you must get down” to the infectious electro-punk sounds of Livesexact! Presenting a unique blend of synth, keytar and nitroglycerine vox that is frontman, Alexplosive, Livesexact can best be summed up by the Boston Globe as “the hypercharged hit of the night.”
Collective member and twice nominated Pushcart Prize poet, Edward J. Carvalho returns to serve up a plate of “angst ridden chili” for his third reading with the Kabarett in June. His poetry has appeared in a variety of national journals and is often described as having a style that is “original, innovative, imaginative and brutal.”
Also appearing are New Hampshire’s dark and distinctive sounding industrial band, Optic Rose.
Crowd control courtesy of the Betty Page of trashbags, the Ominous Collective’s own diva-in-residency, Jutta.
Ominous Collective's monthly series, Kabarett 16-bit is at the
Zeitgeist Gallery, 1353 Cambridge St., Inman Square Cambridge on
Saturday, June 4th, 2005 - $6 donation.
